21 Examples of Job Shadow Opportunities

Here is a list of Job Shadow opportunities being offered to students through one High School in the US. This will give you some idea as to the variety available, and what you can expect from a Job Shadow experience, so you can decide if it's worth pursuing, for your own purposes.

Because this High School had a large number of students going through this program, it had to be a highly organized and coordinated effort, with employers submitting Job Descriptions for the students to choose from.

Job Description: Accomplished real estate agent will take you out and show you a few houses that are on the market, and discuss what it takes to become a successful real estate agent.

Job Description: My job involves technical writing at a software company. I will show the students what a writer does: what their assignments are, how they get their information, the writing process. We will tour the office and meet people in different job functions.

Job Description: I am responsible for sales strategy and operations which include deciding what products we should sell to our customers, developing commercial proposals to compel our customers to purchase our products, and forecasting future business.

Job Description: Responsible for planning menus that change seasonally, ordering, preparing and cooking food, and preparing pastries and desserts. Students will assist with food preparation.

Job Description: With the patients permission, student will observe how a typical chiropractic visit is done. The student will shadow a chiropractic doctor while he treats patients. They will learn about x-ray and physical therapy and running a small business.

Job Description: Job shadow a 3rd grade teacher in an alternative school that follows a "whole child" philosophy, where all subjects are integrated, students are free to move around, and there is no homework, tests or grades.

Job Description: Students will be observing and interacting with Superior Court judges, including observation of court proceedings.
