"I love helping people find their passion, their life purpose. But it wasn't always like that."

THE TRIAL & ERROR METHOD

"For years, I wondered if anyone was ever really happy in their job. Somehow, I held onto the hope that one day I'd find something I could really enjoy doing. I knew nothing about Job Research and using tools like: Informational Interviewing or Job Shadowing or attending Open Houses at schools or in the workplace.

For most of that time, I was using the "Trial & Error" method. And I was looking at jobs from the outside. Making a decision from that perspective, is more like playing Russian Roulette, because you never really know what the job is all about.

Nowadays, the internet allows you to thoroughly investigate a job, to find out what is really involved in it, before you spend time and money training for it. And if you don't want to spend any more time in school, you can find Jobs where employers may prefer to train you.

Knowing which of the 6 Work Style Preferences you prefer, and what your Central Motivations are, can tell you which type of job is a best fit for you, in the workplace.

This site lays out for you how to conduct your own Research, and find your Best Job Match."

TOOLS FOR JOB RESEARCH

"You can find out what kind of Personality Type you have, and the best kinds of jobs for your personality.

Do you find your job boring? Can't wait til the weekend? Maybe you are in the wrong job? Would you like to work at a job that is motivating and enjoyable, where the hours just fly by? In the right job, the work itself becomes the motivation.

Find out what personally motivates you, so you'll know how to choose a job that incorporates and capitalizes on your Central Motivations.

You'll also find a guide to doing your own Occupational Research using the internet. This can also help you identify unusual jobs, that are not always well known. You'll review how to best use these 4 Main Research Tools.

For example, do you know the key questions to ask when doing your research? Here is a list of 50 Basic Questions to keep at your elbow, while doing your research.

By the time, you are finished investigating the jobs that interest you, you'll know if you want to talk to someone in your field of interest, to get any more information. To help you with this, you'll find a list of Informational Interview Questions that will put you at ease when talking to people. So you'll never be at a loss for what to ask them.

You'll also find a page on Recommended Readings. Here you can Browse By Category choose a book, read the reviews, check out the Table of Contents, and see which books are best for you.

From General Career books, to books on Specific Careers that will tell you all about the working conditions in these jobs, how to train for, and find them, and how to get ready to apply for them. You'll also find books on Working From Home, Working in Other Countries, Surviving Job Loss, and if you are getting ready to retire, you'll find books that talk about Jobs for People 50+".

THERE IS A BETTER WAY

"This website can save you years of "Trial & Error", searching for a career or job, that you can enjoy doing.

Take your time and work your way through the Free Career Assessments, and get to know yourself, your needs, your gifts, the special talents that you are here to share with others.

These are self-assessments, meaning, that you can do them yourself and interpret the results.

If you have a question, use the Contact Page, and I'll get back to you."

YOU CAN DO IT TOO!

"By the time you finish working through this site, you'll know exactly what you need to do, how to do it, where to go, who to talk to, what to say, and when to say it.

You'll feel confident and sure about yourself, and that will make you stand out head and shoulders above the others when you go for interviews.

But Best of All - you'll be on-track to doing something you can enjoy, that you'll love doing. You'll have found a Career that will last a Lifetime. It's all a matter of knowing how to go about it.

My hope is that you find this site empowering and helpful in discovering your life purpose, your dream job . . . your Best Career Match. They're really all one and the same thing."

Sincerely,
Mary Joan
